to be eco-friendly,  you don't have to go to extremes.  it isn't always possible to do everything perfect!  here are a few ways to get you started... anything you do to conserve, reduce, etc. helps!

  • opt out of junk mail.  visit www.donotmail.com to stop receiving wasted junk mail.  not only is paper wasted, but time and resources.  think about the resources that are used to make it, the stress on the ecosystem to deliver it...
  • you already know how important it is to recycle... but do you close the loop?  buy 100% recycled products.  paper productsare usually the easiest to find.
  • recycle your magazines. http://earth911.com/ can help you find where to recycle in your area.
  • compost.  how? check out http://earth911.com/blog/2009/08/31/cheat-sheet-composting/ to learn what you need to do.  check out http://www.composters.com/ to find one that fits your lifestyle.
  • use natural and organic beauty products you find here on glitZen!
  • don't use bottled water when ever possible.  use a pitcher with a filter or install one on your tap in the sink.  carry a refillable water bottle with you.
  • petition to stop receiving the yellow pages: http://www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.org/stop-yellow-pages/.
  • change all your light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs (cfl) as they need replacing.  they use less energy and last 10 times as long.
  • unplug energy suckng devices when not in use.  yup, they still use energy when turned off, but plugged in.
  • wash all your laundry in cold water with a biodegradeable, natural detergent.
  • eat less meat.  vegetables are less taxing to the earth.
